New QuickTime clip of Leo starring in a Japanese television commercial added to the Miscellaneous section of the Photos and Movies page 9/13/98
Titanic will be released on VHS in video stores around the United States on Tuesday, September 1st! Many vendors, including Blockbuster Video, will extend their hours so that fans can rent the most popular movie of all time from 12AM-2AM that Tuesday morning. Though most stores will have hundreds of copies in stock (some even thousands), expect shortages soon after the initial release. E! Online is reporting that Leo's lawsuit against Playgirl magazine was settled out of court, and that the objectionable nude photos of him taken from Total Eclipse will be published in this October's issue.

Many readers have written in asking about the following news release: "Eva Herzigova, the original Wonderbra model, has disclosed that she and Titanic stud Leonardo DiCaprio enjoyed a passionate month-long fling - while she was married to Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres." A reliable source has stated the report is completely FALSE.

"Variety" reports that DiCaprio will star in an adaptation of The Beach, a 1997 novel by Alex Garland about a gallivanting traveler who tries to find a hidden paradise.
A possible upcoming film for Leo is a feature out of Artisans Entertainment studios, tentatively called The Stanford Prison Experiment, co-starring Benicio Del Toro and Samuel L. Jackson. The script reveals DiCaprio in a meaty, non pretty-boy role. The producers are Industry Entertainment, Michael Lazarou, David Manson, and George DiCaprio (yes, Leo's father). Toby Maguire may also be involved in this ensemble project. There are 12 college-aged boys in the cast. The movie will be directed by Lee Tamahori (The Edge, Once Were Warriors), and the script was written by Michael Lazarou. Leo is a big fan of Tamahori's, and the project is now "moving into overdrive."
You may recall that Leonardo starred in a short film named Don's Plum back in July of 1995 with actor Tobey Maguire. DiCaprio was assured from the onset of the project that the film wouldn't be released as feature-length. However, he has now been sued by the film's producer, who alleges DiCaprio has attempted to stall an extended, feature-length version of the film. The Late Show Interview movie clip from 1995 was reintroduced to the site today. Using the new QuickTime 3 format with Sorenson video encoding and Qualcomm Pure Voice audio encoding, the size of this 9-minute clip has been drastically reduced. It is currently available in two sizes (8MB and 29MB) in the Photos & Movies section. 4/15/98
